There are several professions one can choose from. You are allowed two per character. Every profession listed will have an explanation as to what they allow you to do. Just because a profession is not listed does not mean it cannot be added. Simply suggest it and it will be given a look at it.
Hand to Hand Combat
A person that fights with their feet or hands must have this profession. Your character does not have to be a martial artist. Simple if kicking and punching like a Sanji and Luffy is the primary way you want your character to do combat than this is required.
Weapon Specialist
Having this profession allows for a person to fight using weapons. Any type of close range weapon fighting requires a character to have this profession. Does not matter what type of weapon it is, it can be swords, clubs, etc. The only type of weapon that are exceptions to this profession are things like brass knuckles and glove like weapons.
Sharpshooter
A long range fighter such as a sniper using guns, a bow and arrow, etc need this profession. A gun or cannon can fired without this profession but it will not be all that accurate.
Chef
Having someone who can cook on board a ship is very important. A chef is a vital piece of any ship as he/she continues to feed the crew and make sure no one goes with hunger.
Doctor
A doctor is one of the most important positions on a crew. They are their to treat wounds and sickness. They make sure that everyone is in tip top shape and have no lingering injuries.
Navigator
A navigator is the most important position on any crew. Without a navigator who can sail through the rough waters a crew has no chance at surviving. They are the life line of a crew, especially one that wants to sail deep into the Grand Line, where all logic is thrown out the window.
Shipwright
The shipwright position is very important to a crew. They help maintain the ship in proper order and tip top shape. A shipwright is essential as they make sure that the ship does not collapse on itself in the middle of a journey.
Musician
Singing and bringing joy to a crew is what they are their for. By playing music they lighten the mood up and make sailing a lot more fun. Truly a wonder to have someone with music capabilities on board a ship.
Carpenter
An inventor can mix and match weapons with other things to make a stronger weapon. They are in essences a blacksmith, but with more experience when it comes to designing a weapon as they can upgrade a weapon.
Helmsman
Having one on board a crew helps the maneuverability of the ship. Steering the ship as fast as possible away from danger is what they are needed for.
Merchant
A merchant can be very charismatic to get what he/she wants at a reasonable price. They are good at buying and selling goods.
Thief
A thief steal from people without them even noticing if they are good enough. They make a living off other people that actually work hard to gain what they have.
Assassin
An assassin is skilled at infiltrating and killing without no one noticing that they have been there. They are the perfect tool in stealth killing.
