Marineford is a crescent moon-shaped island that is composed completely of bricks and steel, with cannons on the edges. On the center of the island is an execution scaffold, and around it is a small town with trees around the area. The front of the scaffold, which is a plain and empty area, is known as the Oris Plaza, where the Ox Bell stands at the front. The majority of the island is occupied by Marineford Town. It is mostly home to the families of the Marines stationed at Marineford. At the back of the island, standing large, tall and proud is the G-1 building. The building is a large multistory ancient Japanese-stylized palace. This is the location of the G-1 branch of the marines.
It is the World Government's maximum-security prison for the most dangerous criminals and pirates. It is located underwater in the middle of the Calm Belt. Once a criminal passes through the gates they are baptize, which is a hellish torture and they cannot escape. There are six levels to Impel Down.
A government-controlled stronghold filled with 10,000 soldiers and the second strongest cipher pol CP9. The island has a courthouse, which makes it easy to transfer high-level criminals through Enies Lobby and directly into Impel Down, or to the Marineford. Enies Lobby has extremely strange oddities that many islands are not known to have. Among them is a large waterfall under the island, leading to nowhere except a huge black void, although there is water down there. It is an island connected to the sea train.
